FORESTRY DEER TRAIL

Bolderwood, New Forest New Forest National Park, Lyndhurst, SO43 7NY

Follow the Bolderwood waymarked trail to see the oldest tree’s in the Forest and the kids will love getting so close to deer from the raised platform. Toilets, parking and picnic bench’s. Trails from 0.5 to 2 miles. Download the podcast for a Guide to Deer. Grab lunch in nearby Lyndhurst. Lovely.

ZOO

Marwell Zoo Thompson's Ln, Colden Common, Winchester SO21 1JH

Fantastic day out.  See tigers, giraffes, lemurs, walk through the wallaby enclosure.  Great track around the park for scooters. Make sure you visit the children’s playground at the back of the safari park, next to the Encounter Village.  A number of coffee shops, picnic tables and toilets thoughout the park. Also the land tractor and train area are a favourite with the kids. £55.50 for a family ticket.

BEACH

Hayling Island boasts pebble beaches, sea front walks, skate parks and super fish & chips! Perfect to blow away the cobwebs and get some fresh air. Plenty of places to park the car, most with picnic benches.

HISTORIC TRAIL

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard   Victory Gate, Portsmouth, PO1 3LJ

Park at Gunwharf Keys, stop by the harbour and take a look at the yachts and Spinaker Tower. Then scoot over to old Portsmouth and the famous dockyard. Explore HMS Warrior & HMS Victory, the kids absolutely love exploring the ships (No scooting in the dockyard due to the cobbles!). If the weather turns there is Kraze Kaves Indoor Play Centre, which has a nice cafe for adults to take a rest and read the papers.

COUNTRY PARK

Isle of Wight’s award winning country attraction which has loads to do including fun rides, adventure playgrounds, a red squirrel safari, a butterfly garden, visit the treehouse woodland centre, see falconry displays or learn about the Romans. Don’t forget the tractor train and the woodland gardens - it’s a full day out. Tickets include free unlimited returns for 7 days. A fabulous zoo for the kids to learn about conservation and rainforests and come face to face with some really unusual creatures: Armadillo’s, Tamrain’s, Ocelots, Monkey’s, Bat’s, Lemurs and much more. The zoo does have free flying birds around the grounds so scooters are not permitted everywhere but there is adventure playground and grass area where children are welcomed to use their scooters. Family ticket for £30.  There’s cafe and toilet facilities as well as a playground and picnic area.

Yaverland boast lots of flat surfaces making it a scooters dream! The seafront is an ideal location for a picnic and the sandy beach is must on a sunny day (Yaverland has a Seaside & Water Quality Awards). If the weather’s poor then scoot over to the Dinosaur Museum which has loads of interactive displays for the kids.

Puckpool is a fun beachfront for all the family. If you start in Ryde at the funfair and then scoot along to Puckpool Tea Gardens you can make a full day of it. Pack up a picnic and enjoy the woodland walk and adventure playground in the tea gardens. If the kids are out of energy to scoot back to Ryde then hop on the dotto train, which everyone loves!

Ventnor is a great seafront location for scooting, the surfaces are all very flat and child friendly. If you scoot to the end of the seafront you will find a play pool in the shape of the Isle of Wight which is great for the kids. An ideal opportunity to pack up a picnic and head down to the seaside!

SEAFRONT

Brighton Marina Brighton Marina

Perfect for the summer. Park at the Marina where there are loads of restaurants and toilet facilities. You can scooter either East or West but we would recommend scooting West towards Brighton down to the children’s water park (bring the kids swimsuit, they’ll need them) and then on along the seafront to get an ice cream or fish & chips. You can go on to the Pier but it gets very busy in summer. There’s a small train to bring you back if everyone’s tired.

CASTLE

A classic castle with moat and battlements, it even has a wooden portcullis! Lots to see and do including treasure hunts, brass rubbing, the prince & princesses academy. There’s picnic areas and gravel paths through the parkland some of which are great for scooting and burning off energy.

WOODLAND WALK

A beautiful woodland walk with tall pine trees and stunning birches, has wide forest paths. Don’t miss the dramatic Harrisons Rock sandstone outcrop, intermingled with the roots of statuesque beech trees and an ancient yew tree. It’s about 1.5 miles, with a couple of steeper sections. There’s toilets but pack a picnic as there’s no cafe.

FAMILY PARK

Bewl Water Port is one of South East Englandʼs largest lakes and provides lots for everyone to do, not to be missed is the hydroballing! If youʼre not feeling quite that active then you can map out a scoot route of your own, have a snack at the waterside restaurant, visit the adventure playground or just relax with a picnic and watch the boats sail by.

Great Family Day Out, parents may want to take along their own bikes to keep up! Children will love playing on the giant rope swing, ship wreck and in the play village so pack up a picnic and leave them to it! FOREST WALK

There’s loads to do at Box Hill. For a lovely walk and scoot for the kids check out their cycling routes which are mainly flat. Time it with the Bluebells and you’ll feel like Spring has sprung. There’s a picnic area, a cafe and plenty of nature trails for kids. The Box Hill Centre is at the top of the hill and this includes a Discovery Centre for the kids.

PARK AND GARDENS

Windsor Great Park The Crown Estate Windsor Great Park SL4 2HT

This is a vast open space, nearly 5,00 acres, providing a natural playground for children. Favourite spots to visit are Savill Garden, where there is a children's playground, a restaurant (provides children’s lunch boxes) and picnic tables. Combine this with a scoot around the beautiful Virginia Water, which has paved paths on the main route around the lake. Ideal for scooting!

PUBLIC PARK

Surfaced paths at Kidwell’s Park make it a perfect scoot spot. There is a lovely children’s play area which is probably more suited for ages 3-8 years old and or the more experienced scooters there is a skate park for showing off your stunts ! Refreshments are served at the kiosk but we prefer to pack up a picnic and have a family day out.

A real fun family day out with the kids in Abingdon is at Abbey Meadows which is located by the Thames. The area offers riverside walks, tennis, mini golf and a childrens' playground. If the weather is on your side during your visit there is a heated outdoor pool and interactive water play that the kids will love. There are also very good cycle links with the Sustrans Cycle Route running through the park.

FARM

A great family day at the farm and one of the rare farms where children and their scooters are welcomed! Some of the park is understandably not scooter friendly but it is the ideal place to get up close to all sorts of farm animals, learn about them, and have fun doing it - the surfaced paths provide excellent scooting surfaces while the adults can relax with a picnic.
